- Antonio and Nancy Grasso want their local council to relocate a lamp post
- The post sits almost in the direct centre of the couple’s Mullaloo, Perth, home
- Council said the Grassos didn’t get permission to build an extended driveway
A couple are urging their council to shift a lamp post erected in the centre of their driveway.
Antonio and Nancy Grasso said dodging the lamp post, which has not worked for a year, is becoming more difficult and they fear either one of them will crash into it while trying to pull into the garage of their Mullaloo home.
The grandparents are asking their council to shift it to either side of their home’s entry, but it claims the couple never got approval to build an extended double drive way around the pole, according to 9News.

‘If we have visitors, we always have to say to them mind the post, we were going to put a flag there or something to remind them when they reverse,’ Mrs Grasso said.
‘[The council] told us they’re going to have to cut the concrete instead of shifting the post.’
Moving the post would cut power to the street perpendicular to their home, the council told 9News.
Nancy said she has to warn visitors about the pole before they come over (pictured are the Grassos)

Western Power told the publication the lamp pole has not worked for 12 months because the driveway has prevented it from accessing a cable.
Antonio and Nancy removed a portion of the driveway around the pole, but crews said they still can’t get underground.
The council has asked the couple to cut back their driveway.
