Great Gatsbyesque private island hits market for a $125M

A luxurious 48-acre private island oozing Gatsbyesque vibes on the gold coast of Long Island is hitting the market for a whopping $125million.

This is only the third time in history that the flawless estate is being sold. Back in 1919, Junius Morgan, the grandson of J.P. Morgan, had a 27-000-square-foot mansion built on the North Shore island and called it ‘Salutation’.

The second owner of the massive property, socialite and real estate broker Margo Walker, purchased it in 1993.

The lavish estate, which is now called ‘Dosoris Island’, overlooks the gorgeous Long Island Sound.

Current listing broker Bonnie Devendorf of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty believes that the huge price tag for the the exclusive and once-in-a-lifetime Gatsbyesque island is well worth it.

‘There are comparables,’ she told Bloomberg.

‘There’s an island off Greenwich that’s being offered for $175 million, and houses in East Hampton have traded for more than $100 million.’
