Photographs of New York City 18 years on from the 9/11 attacks show how much the Big Apple has changed in many ways, yet remained familiar all at once.
The new images shot September 11, 2019 show a fresh appearance of Lower Manhattan where nearly 3,000 people were killed when planes hit the Twin Towers in 2001.
Pictures taken on Wednesday capture New Yorkers roaming the area of the World Trade Center but almost two decades ago it was a much different scene as workers ran from the collapsing buildings and flying debris.

Pictured from various angles including West Street, Fulton Street, and Cortlandt St in Lower Manhattan, people are seen going about their day-to-day lives on Wednesday, many with a vivid memory of the day that changed the world.
One pedestrian on Church Street was seen wearing a T-shirt with the word ‘freedom’ emblazoned on the back. Ahead of her the new Brookfield Place glass building is seen in the distance.
A protester held a sign with the words ‘Trust Gov?’ and ‘9/11 lie’ on the other side as he walked in the area where rumble once covered Vesey Street.

The area is now home to a 9/11 memorial with the names of those who died engraved on a water feature.
The Sphere, which was once at the World Trade Center Plaza, is now at Liberty Park. On September 24, 2001 workers searching the rubble were pictured moving around the sculpture that was once part of the outdoor memorial that had been dedicated to the victims of the 1993 bombing of the complex.
Lower Manhattan also draws in visitors to a museum nearby where Ground Zero was was.
A couple appeared hugging on the steps of the Brooks Brothers Building which is now closed.
Meanwhile from the Brooklyn Bridge Park looking across the East River in Brooklyn on Wednesday, spectators looked over the water where smoke billowed from the Twin Towers 18 years ago.
