This beloved Aussie entertainer found fame in one of Australia’s biggest musical exports.

Following her departure from her musical group, she launched a successful solo career that netted her an ARIA award.

Last year, she was also recognised at the Australian Women in Music Awards with a Special Impact gong for her contribution to the industry.

While most at home on the stage, this multi-talent is equally comfortable in front of the camera, having appeared in a range of TV shows such as The Amazing Race Australia, The Masked Singer, and Teenage Boss.

Not one to be pigeonholed, she also recently attained her PhD from Macquarie University.

Of course, it’s Emma Watkins, the once-iconic Yellow Wiggle

The 35-year-old children’s performer, AKA Emma Memma, paid tribute to her Irish heritage on Monday, sharing a sweet throwback photo of her younger self performing on St. Patrick’s Day in 1998.

In the sepia-toned photograph, nine-year-old Emma’s distinctive curls are swept up into a high ponytail hairstyle with a red ribbon.

The future Wiggle looks serious as she executes an Irish dancing routine in the streets of Sydney, dressed in a black leather skirt and leotard.

‘Happy St. Patrick’s Day ☘️,’ she captioned the throwback.

‘I was happy, just had some sun in my eyes… circa 1998 dancing on St Pats Day in Sydney.’

While revellers in Sydney painted the town green on Monday, Emma visited Hobart’s only school of Irish dancing to connect with her performance roots.

Emma began her dance training early in life, including ballet and Irish dance, from the age of four.

She shared another sweet memory to her Stories on Tuesday, showing off another Irish dance performance costume from her childhood.

‘I think I remember seeing Riverdance on TV and because I also have curly hair – and the time curly hair was very much embraced – apparently I said to my mum I want to do that,’ Emma reflected on ABC Classic Breakfast in 2024.

The performer added that like most young girls, she was attracted to anything that involved ‘flitting around like a fairy.’

Emma recently revealed how she ‘burned through’ her savings after leaving iconic kids group The Wiggles in 2021.

She became the first female Wiggle after putting on the yellow skivvy in 2012 and replacing founding member Greg Page.

Emma was paid a reported $750,000 per year for her role as the Yellow Wiggle.
