Guess who! Famous athlete shares ’90s snap for Flashback Friday

She is one of Australia’s most well-known athletes.

And thanks to her high-profile marriage and ‘golden girl’ persona, she managed to stay in the spotlight long after her swimming career ended.

But would you recognise this mystery sportswoman in a throwback snap taken during a training session for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics? 

Guess who! She is one of Australia’s most famous athletes and stayed in the spotlight long after her retirement – but would you recognise her from this early ’90s throwback snap? 

Posing on the far right in a high-cut bikini, she stands next to four other elite athletes in colourful swimwear next to a swimming pool.

‘Last training sessions with my teamies before race day!’ she captioned the flashback snap on Instagram. 

‘Thirty years old, two kids. It’s not about how old or young you are… It’s about how much you want what you want.’

The young woman on the far right is none other than Lisa Curry.

She shared the photo for ‘Flashback Friday’, much to the delighted of her 40,000 Instagram followers.

Lisa has been taking a walk down memory lane lately, sharing one of her magazine covers from 1988 on Wednesday.

‘Why didn’t someone tell me 30-odd years ago to do something about my head and clothes when I’m on the cover of TV Week!’ she captioned the old press cutting.

‘Buttoned up yellow shirt? Peak cap? Oh dear! Been around awhile. #80sfashionista.’

Lisa is one of only a few Australian swimmers to have held a Commonwealth or Australian record in every stroke except backstroke.

In her career, she competed in three Olympic Games including Moscow in 1980, Los Angeles in 1984 and Barcelona in 1992. 

Lisa also competed in two world championships – in Berlin in 1978 and Ecuador in 1982 – along with three Commonwealth Games.

Lisa was married to former Ironman Grant Kenny from 1986 to 2017, with the pair sharing three adult children together.
