Guests slam $400 a night luxury hotel, claiming it is dirtier than a motel

Dissatisfied guests have taken to the internet to savage a luxury hotel, claiming it is dirtier than a cheap motel.

The QT Port Douglas was slammed on Trip Advisor by guests who were not happy about the condition of the $400 a night hotel in the famous tourist region.

Guest Jason said on Trip Advisor he had enjoyed a previous stay at the hotel, but was surprised by what he saw when he returned.

‘Woefully underwhelming this time, we had stayed about three years ago and it was fantastic, so we were excited to re-book for this trip,’ he wrote.

‘Not worth a cent for this hotel – obviously needs some management direction.’

Other angry customers added said they ‘wouldn’t stay here again if you paid me’, according to News.com.au.

‘Service was terrible, carpets were putrid with holes in the curtains and the rooms smelt of mould (sic) and dampness,’ the review read.

A spokesperson with QT’s parent company, Event Hospitality and Entertainment, told the publication they’re ‘always sorry to hear that some guests have been disappointed.’

The spokesperson also revealed the hotel was up for sale.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Event Hospitality and Entertainment for comment.

A number of the reviews on Trip Advisor received responses from the hotel expressing their apologies for their disappointing stay.

Other negative reviews spoke about rooms not being cleaned properly, beds and lounges being broken and damp or moldy smells within the rooms, rodent droppings and stained bed linen.

One person labelled their review ‘if I could rate this zero stars I would’, while another wrote that there was ‘rubbish placed everywhere on the ground’.

Others were a little more sensitive when they chose to give the QT a negative review.

‘The framework for a fantastic resort is here – they have all the facilities and beautiful grounds. It’s just not executed well. Staff are run off their feet – I feel sorry for them,’ one review read.

While there were negative reviews many people also posted positive reviews for the hotel.

‘The hotel is clean and the beds are comfortable, I assume that the humid climate is the reason for the little wear and tears around the complex,’ one review read.

‘Loved the room, the pool area was great, the grounds were very tropical and neat and tidy. I loved the buffet breakfast it was awesome and ate way too much,’ another reviewer wrote.

The average rating for the hotel based on 271 pages of reviews was still high with a four out of five.
