A gunman opened fire at mourners flouting social distancing rules while attending the funeral of a father killed in a collision with a BMW dubbed ‘Mr Ibiza’ in a Manchester cemetery last night.

Armed police in the area at the time scrambled to Gorton Cemetery on Woodland Avenue in east Manchester after a person is believed to have attacked the huge crowd of well-wishers gathered for Clive Pinnock, 38.

The gunman was stabbed and rushed to hospital with what are understood to be serious face lacerations. Police sources claim there is evidence that three shots were fired in last night’s incident.

The horrifying incident occurred as huge numbers of friends, family, and locals gathered to pay their final respects to father Clive Pinnock, dubbed by many as ‘Mr Ibiza’.

Mr Pinnock grew up on an estate in Longsight. He was riding a green Kawasaki motorcycle in Gorton when it was caught in a collision with a BMW. He was badly hurt and later died in hospital.

A man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving in connection with the collision.

‘Several gatherings’ to mark the funeral of Mr Pinnock were broken up by Greater Manchester Police (GMP). No arrests were made, but well-wishers were asked to disperse under the Government’s lockdown rules.

In a statement, GMP said: ‘Shortly before 7pm on Thursday, police attended Gorton Cemetery on Woodland Avenue, Gorton, following a report of a firearms discharge.

‘A man aged 34 was found to have suffered knife wounds and was taken to hospital. Enquiries are ongoing.’

MailOnline has approached GMP for further information.
