A disturbed teenager who savagely killed a 10-year-old girl told her ‘don’t worry, darling – I’ll make it all go away’ moments before attacking her in cold blood at a farmhouse.
The 14-year-old girl killed the youngster in Gunnedah in north-west NSW last July, in an act so horrific that a judge banned media outlets from publishing details of the slaying for the next 20 years.
Now court documents have revealed that the day before the killing, the teen boasted to a school friend that she had been standing over her sleeping parents holding a ‘big a** knife’, ready to stab her father to death.
In chilling late night messages to her friend, the teen warned she was on a mission to kill – but was frustrated that no-one believed her.
Her friend begged the soon-to-be killer not to follow through on the threats – but she refused, saying: ‘I don’t like to lie about promises and won’t make them if I don’t mean them.

‘I want to kill dad, torture mum and stab [my sister] countless times then sprawl their corpse out onto the kitchen table.’
She added: ‘Sorry, I have to go,’ according to the court documents.
A few hours later, she cornered her victim and spoke the chilling words ‘don’t worry, darling – I’ll make it all go away’ before killing her.
The NSW Supreme Court last week found the teenager – who can’t be named for legal reasons – was not criminally responsible for the killing due to mental illness.

In the weeks leading up to the killing on July 8, 2020, she had tried to tell her parents that she ‘thought about killing people all the time’.
She said she heard voices in her head telling her it would be okay and in the darkness she saw the eyes of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
In the texts the night before the killing, revealed in court documents, she admitted to her friend: ‘I’m not okay. I can’t do it any more. I think I’m going crazy.
‘I don’t know what to do. I seriously can’t take it any longer. I’m not talking to my parents – they are the cause of it.
‘Something bad is going to happen and it’s going to be irreversible.’

She added: ‘I don’t know how many times that I say to mum or dad that I want to kill someone, they don’t take me seriously.
‘They think I’m joking but I’m being dead serious. I just walked into their room with a big a** knife about to stab dad.’
Her panicking friend asked: ‘Where are you now?’
The teen replied she was back in her room and the pal begged her to not to do anything.

But the teen – who had been bullied at school for being ‘weird’ – warned: ‘I’m running dangerously low on patience – I don’t know if I’ll even last until school.’
The following morning, between 6.30 and 7am, the teenager armed herself with the tomahawk she nicknamed Tommy, given to her by her father two weeks earlier.
She then tracked down her 10 year old victim and killed her before dragging the body to her 12-year-old sister’s room. The teen then put on a backpack and walked out the house.
A psychiatric report later found the girl was suffering from untreated schizophrenia which included auditory hallucinations coaxing her to kill, and delusions her life and experiences were not real.

She told the psychiatrist it was one of the voices, called ‘Rae’, which had told her to go into her parents room with a knife up her sleeve the night before the killing.
‘Just kill them – think of all the wrongs they have done,’ the voice told the girl.
The girl claimed she was then visited by another muffled and hoarse voice, called ‘Get Them’, the following morning.
She said it had urged her to kill the 10-year-old girl at the farmhouse.

Police bodycam video released by the court showed a detective approaching the teenager at a neighbouring rural property just hours after the gruesome attack.
In the footage, the plainclothes officer tells the teen police have been informed ‘something happened’ to a 10-year-old girl that morning.
‘Did you have anything to do with that?’ the officer asks before telling her: ‘We’re going to have to place you under arrest.’
The footage captures the moment the teenager was loaded into the back of a police van and told she would be taken back to Gunnedah.
A gloved officer was then seen carefully removing each of the teen’s black Nike sneakers and placing them into individual paper bags.
Footage of an interview held just hours later at Gunnedah Police Station showed the girl seated next to a NSW Ambulance Chaplain who acts as a support person.
One of the two detectives seated around the table told the teenager that as a result of what she told him earlier that morning, she has been placed under arrest.
She told detectives she had argued with the 10-year-old girl the night before the gruesome attack.
The teenager said it was about ‘her saying I’m creepy and I should be in a mental hospital … because I was laughing, my laugh sort of sounds like a hyena’s’.
The teenager also told police she liked to play a game called ‘serial killers’ which she had tried to play with her little sister and the victim the night before.

‘Serial killers as in a term, as in pretend I’m a serial killer and you’re the victims,’ she said.
The two younger girls refused to play and they played hide and seek instead, but it ended in tears when the teenager chased the 10-year-old with a knife until the youngster fell in a bush of prickles, injuring her leg.
A short no-jury trial, overseen by Acting Justice Carolyn Simpson, found the girl was suffering from severe mental illness and had difficulty separating ‘dreams from reality’.
The teenager will remain in detention under supervision and will be reviewed by the Mental Health Tribunal until deemed fit for release.
