Guy Pearce admits having a baby ‘at the ripe old age of 53 is a lot’ as he reveals his plans to bring his son Monte to Australia

Australian actor Guy Pearce and his partner, Dutch actress Carice van Houten, welcomed their son Monte in 2016.

And while they keep details about their four-year-old’s upbringing in Carice’s home country of The Netherlands private, Guy has admitted that being a father in his 50s has its challenges.

He candidly told Who magazine on Thursday: ‘Having a young child at the ripe old age of 53 is a lot.’

‘But I am focused on spending all the time I can with him and being the best dad I can be,’ the Melbourne-raised star added.

Guy, who first rose to fame on Neighbours, added that he hopes to bring his boy Down Under in the future.

‘He’s seen some Australian animals in the zoo in Amsterdam, but it will be great to show him our wildlife back in Australia,’ Guy said.

Netflix’s new flick – titled ‘Back To The Outback’ – will also star the likes of Isla Fisher, Keith Urban, Eric Bana and Tim Minchin, and is described as a ‘love letter’ to the country.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the hit movie is the story of a group of animals who escape from Sydney Zoo, and embark on an adventure to find a home away from humans.
