Guy Sebastian reveals details of his ‘devastating’ breakup with wife Jules: ‘I didn’t eat for a week’

Guy Sebastian opened up on Friday about a ‘devastating’ break up with his wife Jules which left him unable to eat for a week.

The Voice Australia coach, 41, revealed on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that when he and Jules were dating in 2000 she briefly dumped him because he was a ‘rubbish boyfriend’.

‘I grew up sheltered and was a bit weird. I was obsessed with sport and didn’t prioritise her. She was a mate more than a girlfriend,’ he began.

‘So she dumped me. I was devastated and gutted. For over a week I couldn’t eat anything.’

Fortunately, Guy said he was able to win her back after they both realised how much they missed each other.

‘I went down the wrong path and felt lonely. She dumped me so I did my time and it led me to realise she was a really good person,’ he added.

Guy married his wife Jules Egan in late 2007 after eight years of dating, and they share two sons, Hudson, 11, and Archie, nine.

Earlier this month, Sebastian revealed his wife was hesitant to have children when they first started dating.

The singer spoke to Who Australia about his wife Jules’, 43, fear of motherhood.

‘Jules was a tomboy growing up. You know how some women growing up are kind of like, “I just can’t wait to be a mum?”,’ began the Australian Idol star.

‘Whereas Jules was petrified of it. I never heard the words “I want to be mum” ever come out of her mouth because I think she was scared that she wouldn’t do a good job,’ he said.

Despite her reservations, Guy claims Jules has naturally taken to motherhood with the couple’s two sons.

‘The thing that I’ve seen her do unbelievably well is be a mum,’ the pop star said, praising his wife.

‘I think you have a newfound love for your partner when you see them in a role like that – nurturing and looking after the people that matter the most to you. She’s killing it!’ he added.
