Gwendoline Christie towers over braless Elisabeth Moss

At times it can be difficult to gauge an actor’s height on-screen.

But on Thursday a slight height difference was on full display, as Elisabeth Moss barely came up to Gwendoline Christie’s shoulders when they posed together at the New York City premiere of Top Of The Lake: China Girl.

While the difference in statures was no doubt a head-turner, Elisabeth made sure all eyes were on her thanks to her black blazer and pants combo.

Co-stars! On Thursday a slight height difference was on full display, as Elisabeth Moss barely came up to Gwendoline Christie’s shoulders when they posed together at the New York City premiere of Top Of The Lake: China Girl

The 35-year-old Mad Men star opted to go bra-free for the event, a choice which afforded a quick glimpse at her decolletage.

Her straight, mixed blonde tresses were parted on the right and fell just past her shoulders.

A smoky eye, crimson lipstick and subtle blush ensured the beauty glowed for the cameras.

Black pointed-toe heels did add a few inches to her 5ft3in frame.

But Gwendoline, 38, who at 6ft3in is a full foot taller than Elisabeth, bumped up her own stature with a pair of black heels.

Also eye-catching was her asymmetrical Vivienne Westwood white wrap top, which fell down her right side all the way to the floor.

Black trousers completed her avant-garde look.

The Game of Thrones star split her wavy hay-colored tresses down the center and opted for pale rose lipstick for her turn on the red carpet.

Earlier in the day, the three actresses posed together before a BUILD Series interview, with Jane briefly popping in at the end of the talk.

Jane said: ‘I think what’s really important is that the shows that we do are really entertaining, and that they’re f***ing good. That’s the main thing. You know, like, if they’re good, it works. There’s no other way around it.’

She went on to say that ‘I just think women are so funny, and so amazing, and mean some of our best comedians, and I just love being with them, and so it’s not – you know, we’re not trying to sell a difficult thing here.’

The first season of Top Of The Lake, which had been broadcast in 2013, was co-created by Jane and Gerard Lee and co-directed by Jane and Garth Davis.

Though at the time that season was thought to be a one-off, China Girl is the second installment, and Jane has co-directed it alongside Ariel Kleiman.

Elisabeth, 35, explained on the BUILD Series that Top Of The Lake ‘is not a procedural show. It’s, you know – we used to joke in the, in New Zealand on the first one that we were not making, you know, CSI: NZ, you know, it was – because we don’t know how to do that. Like, that’s it’s own thing, and it’s great, but that’s not our show.’

She quipped: ‘We’re maybe not smart enough. It’s much more about the emotional landscape of these characters, and their – and the interactions, and how they connect, and that’s really what it is, and that’s kind of what’s most important to us.’

Gwendoline had slid on a sleeveless flowing blue gown, whereas Elisabeth bared the faintest trace of midriff beneath a white crop top she’d worn over black trousers.

Elisabeth, whose celebrity hit new heights this year with her star turn on The Handmaid’s Tale, matched her red leather jacket with a scarlet shade of lipstick.

Dame Jane, 63, an Oscar-winner for the screenplay of The Piano, had kept her outfit simple, pulling on a pine green top over midnight blue trousers.

Alice, 23, had flung a checked denim knee-length coat over a busy outfit that included a floral button-down blouse and pink open-toed shoes.
