‘Gwyneth looked like a snotty so-and-so’: Journalist details ‘enervating’ exchange with Gwyneth Paltrow where ‘not pleasant’ star ‘let me know this wasn’t going to be nice for either of us’
Revered journalist Dylan Jones has recalled his ‘enervating experience’ with Gwyneth Paltrow in the Nineties, claiming she was unpleasant when he tried to interview her.
The actress had gained notice for her early work in films such as Seven, Emma and Sliding Doors and was working on the 1998 hit Shakespeare in Love, a role that would ultimately earn her the Best Actress Oscar.
Yet former GQ editor Dylan, 63, reveals the Hollywood star didn’t appear to be basking in her success and instead ‘could not have been less interested in talking’ to him for a cover story she was due to land with The Sunday Times Magazine.
Dylan claimed that when he met her on the set of her movie she didn’t greet him or acknowledge his presence.
Writing in The Times this week, he recalled: ‘In the space of a few seconds she managed to let me know that this wasn’t going to be a nice experience for either of us. And it wasn’t.’

Dylan said of her then-boyfriend Ben Affleck who was also in the room, that he ‘stood up, smiled, shook my hand and was perfectly pleasant. But not his girlfriend’, adding that the actress ‘gave a good impression of someone who’d rather be picking skewers out of her eyeballs than talking to me.’
Having realised that the ‘monosyllabic’ answers Gwyneth had given him would not be enough to form a cover story, Dylan decided to ask the film’s crew for their opinions on the star.
While Gwyneth had experience on film sets as the daughter of director Bruce Paltrow and actress Blythe Danner it seems she did not make a good impression on the crew of Shakespeare in Love.
Dylan noted that 70 percent of the feedback he received was negative, with one crew member going as far to say that she ‘looked like a snotty so-and-so.’

It comes as Gwyneth has hit the headlines this month while being sued by a retired optometrist who claims she crashed into him while skiing in a 2016 hit-and-run incident and left him with lasting brain damage.
Her legal woes have been unfolding in the headlines, with her claiming the optometrist caused the crash and countersuing for attorneys fees plus $1.
Memes have poured from the trial livestream, which included one viral clip of the plaintiff’s lawyer gushingly complimenting Gwyneth while questioning her.

During one of the trial days, Gwyneth took the stand in court to testify when she was asked about the ‘losses’ she herself suffered from the accident.
She then responded with the now infamous line, ‘Well, we lost half a day of skiing.’
Since then, the actress has been the subject of viral reactions to the statement by both fans and other stars, including Busy Philipps.
Twitter has also become a floodgate of primarily funny reactions to Gwyneth’s statement.
