Gwyneth Paltrow’s UK branch of Goop plunges £1.4million into the red – after the star shut her London store in 2020

Gwyneth Paltrow’s company which sells the famous ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ has plunged £1.4 million into the red in the UK after it stopped trading.

The business Goop Inc Limited handled sales of the Hollywood star’s quirky lifestyle range in the UK, but has struggled to catch on with Brits.

Paperwork for the 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress’ UK firm reveals that losses went up by £400,000 in 2020, the first year of the pandemic.

Oh dear: Gwyneth Paltrow’s company which sells the famous ‘This Smells Like My Vagina’ has plunged £1.4 million into the red in the UK after it stopped trading

The company had £1.3 million in assets but owed creditors £2.7 million leaving the big losses.

She shut Goop’s flagship store in 2020 and last year said the UK Goop Inc company would cease trading altogether as the losses built up.

A report of the finances makes no mention of the Covid-19 lockdown, but figures published for the year before said it had caused a major financial headache, adding: ‘The company has operated at significantly reduced levels since the outbreak.’

Shakespeare in Love actress Gwyneth launched her Goop brand back in 2008 while living in London with her then-husband Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay.

The shop she set up close to where she lived in West London when the business was launched was closed last year.

She still signs off the paperwork for the company under her old married name Ms G. Martin.

Through Goop, Gwyneth shares her insights on health and wellness, and has also promoted and sold a number of eyebrow-raising products, including her most recent candle, This Smells Like My Orgasm, which followed on from This Smells Like My Vagina.

The health and well being empire is reported to be worth £200 million worldwide, but it has not been a big success in the UK.

Goop opened its first permanent store in LA in 2018.
