A new video reveals how a stranger reacts when she sees a pushy mother force her daughter to pose on a rowing machine for fraudulent photos to include in her college applications.

The scenario – which takes its inspiration from the admissions bribery scandal currently in the headlines – was recorded inside a public gym for ABC’s reality show, What Would You Do.

While the ‘mother’ and ‘daughter’ were both actresses playing out the scenario as a social experiment, the stranger inside the gym believed the two were genuine, with hidden cameras capturing her subsequent conversation with the pair.

A sneak preview of the segment – which airs in full on Friday night – begins with the mom interrupting the woman during her workout  by asking: ‘Do you know anything about rowing?’

The actress playing the daughter tells the unsuspecting woman: ‘I just don’t want to lie, and my mom is making me lie for my college application.’

The woman is referring to college admissions scandal, in which wealthy parents gamed the system in order to have their children admitted to top universities.

In one instance, Full House star Lori Loughlin and her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, allegedly paid $500,000 to have their daughters labeled as recruits for the University of Southern California crew team, even though they were not rowers.

In the What Would You Do segment, the actress playing the mom tells the unsuspecting woman that she was inspired by the college admissions scandal as a way of getting her daughter into a good school.

‘That’s kind of where I got the idea, but I’m thinking, I’m not like a famous person!’

The mom then breaks away and heads off to the bathroom, before the actress playing the daughter tells the unsuspecting woman: ‘I just don’t want to lie, and my mom is making me lie for my college application.’

It appears the woman looks set to confront the mom when she returns to the room, with the full segment set to air on Friday night.

What Would You Do airs 9pm ET Fridays on ABC.
