One of the best parts about going to the hairdresser is how good your hair looks afterwards, but unfortunately it doesn’t always last.
Most people would love to know how they could extend their blow dry for a little bit longer.
To make this dream a reality, FEMAIL spoke to Australia’s TONI&GUY National Creative Director, Katy Reeve, who revealed how you can keep your hair in immaculate condition a week after your salon visit.
‘The most traditional way of making a blow dry last is sleeping on silk pillow cases,’ she told FEMAIL.
We all know the feeling of leaving the salon feeling gorgeous after you’ve had a professional blow dry but unfortunately they’re not the same the next day

‘Because of the smoothness of the silk you don’t create so much friction on the hair, keeping it smoother when you sleep.’
Another trick Katy shared is simply tying your hair up loosely, which will help to keep it smooth.
To help ensure that it will last as long as possible, over the following days you want to avoid touching your new ‘do.
‘The more you touch it, the more oils transfer from your hands to the hair,’ Katy explained.
‘You also activate the sebaceous glands on the scalp which create more oils and greasy roots.
She recommended that people invest in a good dry shampoo and suggested the brand label.m in both natural and brunette.

‘Apply the dry shampoo and brush through to disperse the product evenly for a natural effect,’ Katy said.
‘Using a lightweight hair spray can help combat frizz and keep a smoother finish. You can use it daily and it brushes away with no residue.’
One of the hardest aspects of a good blow dry is recreating the shine that the salon always seem to provide.
Katy told FEMAIL that brushing your hair with a good quality bristle brush will create the amazing shine you’re looking for.

‘If you want to use a product to create shine stay clear of serums as they can weigh hair down over a few days, instead choose a shine spray which is lighter and sits on top of the hair surface,’ she explained.
‘When in the shower use a shower cap, as this will protect your hair from the water, and don’t have the temperature too hot as it creates steam which will make your hair frizz or curls drop.
‘Restyle your hair to create a fresher feel, do this by moving your parting or by curling a straight blow dry.’
