Halyna Hutchins’ parents and husband announce new lawsuit against Alec Baldwin for Rust shooting
- Baldwin was recently charged with involuntary manslaughter for the shooting
- Prosecutors say he didn’t check his gun and didn’t follow weapons training
- Halyna’s husband and parents are expected to give more information today
The parents and husband of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins plan to file a new lawsuit against Alec Baldwin for shooting her dead on the set of their movie Rust.
The Hutchins family is being represented by Gloria Allred, who is expected to host a press conference later today where more details will be given.
Baldwin has been charged with one count of involuntary manslaughter and is awaiting his first court appearance.
Halyna Hutchins’ husband Matthew plans to file a new lawsuit against Baldwin. They are pictured with their son

He previously settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Halyna’s widower Matthew, making him an executive producer on the movie when it resumed production.
The new lawsuit comes after prosecutors in New Mexico shared search warrants and probable cause affidavits against Baldwin that claim he was not paying attention in weapons training, and that he did not check the gun he was holding before firing it towards Hutchins’ direction.
Baldwin has always maintained his innocence, and says her death was a tragic mistake but not a criminal one.
He has vowed to fight the charges. He remains in New York City awaiting his first court appearance, which will happen virtually.
The press conference with Hutchins’ family will take place at 2.30pm EST Thursday.
