Hamleys top 10 Christmas toys revealed!

Hamleys top 10 Christmas toys revealed – including an abandoned toy pet that needs a human connection to turn it from ‘scruffy to fluffy’ and a school educational game

  • Hamleys toy store believes traditional plush dolls will be bestseller at Christmas
  • Predicted ‘trend of human connection’ among technology-based favourites
  • The Pictionary Air – a technological version of the classic game – made the cut

Toys ranging from traditional plush dolls to a book that teaches pre-schoolers how to code are predicted to be to Christmas sellers this year, according to retailer Hamleys.

The store has unveiled its top 10 toys ahead of the festive season and has predicted an ’emerging trend of human connection’ among technology-based favourites.

Scruff-a-Luv’s My Real Rescue, a £40 abandoned toy pet that needs a human connection to turn it from ‘scruffy to fluffy’, had made the list, alongside the pre-school educational game Coding Critters, also £40.

The Smart Pixelator device allows children to pixelate and build their own 2D or 3D design using Bluetooth connectivity, while the Slow Moves Sloth is the latest in the Linkimals collectibles range.

The Pictionary Air is a technological version of the classic game, and works via an app which allows players to draw in the air and see the image on a screen.

Collectibles remain on the list, including the Poopsie Surprise Dolls and the L.O.L Surprise Chalet Dollhouse, while for older children the list includes the latest Nerf Fortnite RL gun and the new Oblique Drifter four-wheeler toy.

Victoria Kay, head buyer at Hamleys, said: ‘It’s no surprise that tech-based toys are popular with the kids this Christmas, but it’s interesting and exciting that we are seeing an emerging trend of human connection within toys like Scruff-a-Luv’s My Real Rescue, whereas other toys such as Pictionary Air are starting to embrace the online world through physical play.’
