Forget the usual hotel room amenities of complimentary tea and coffee or a bathrobe and slippers.

That’s because one hotel based at a Japanese airport is to open a room that comes complete with a flight simulator.

The Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport has installed the Boeing 737 simulator in its brand new ‘superior cockpit room’.

The room is available from July 18 and guests can book a 90-minute flying experience, with an instructor on hand to help.

The machine simulates the journey between Haneda and Osaka’s Itami Airport, with an hour-and-a-half session costing $277 (£220).

For an extra $234 (£186) guests can actually stay in the twin room overnight but they are not allowed to use the simulator without an instructor being present.

The hotel’s website states: ‘You cannot sit in the pilot’s seat in the simulator or touch the instruments.’

According to CNN, the Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu has spent $92,000 installing the flight simulator in the room.

And Aki Hagiwara, a public relations manager at the hotel, said the idea to include the simulator in a room was in order to embrace the property’s proximity to the airport and attract aviation enthusiasts.

She added that so far, the reaction to the room had been very positive.

The Haneda Excel Hotel Tokyu is connected to Haneda Airport’s Terminal 2 building.

And if guests aren’t lucky enough to secure a booking for the superior cockpit room, there are other rooms in the hotel that have views of the airport’s runway.
