‘It’s like torture!’: Happy Valley’s Amit Shah praises BBC for not letting ‘impatient’ viewers binge watch the series ahead of the nail-biting finale

Happy Valley’s Amit Shah has praised the BBC for not letting ‘impatient viewers’ binge watch the series.

The actor, 41, who plays pharmacist Faisel Bhatti in the show which is transmitted every Sunday, appeared on Friday’s Lorraine ahead of this weekend’s nail-biting finale.

He said: ‘The show is like torture, credit to the BBC to release one a week so it created debate instead of people binging it like most shows’.

However the actor remained tight-lipped about what will happen to his ‘unlikely murderer’ refusing to ‘ruin’ the final episode for fans.

‘I can’t ruin the final – people are so impatient! I can’t ruin it!’

Hold your horses: Happy Valley’s Amit Shah, 41, has praised the BBC for not letting ‘impatient viewers’ binge watch the series

Amit, who joined the smash hit show this series, admitted to host Lorraine Kelly that it was a daunting prospect.

‘When I first read the script I was scared by the size of the show. I was intimidated by it!’.

The pharmacist has found himself in a perilous situation after selling drugs from his pharmacy led to him brutally murdering patient Joanna Hepworth (Mollie Winnard).

Going on to discuss the character actor Amit said: ‘He’s an unlikely murdered, he’s a regular guy that would normally blend into the background. He’s not a slick drugs kingpin he doesn’t fit in’.

‘All these characters are so beautifully rounded and flawed. You think he’s done bad stuff but you have to look at why. He is in a pressure cooker situation’.

A trailer for the final episode of Happy Valley was released this week ahead of the upcoming finale on Sunday.

The 16 second clip teases the final showdown between Catherine Cawood (Sarah Lancashire) and Tommy Lee Royce (James Norton) after his daring escape from court before the police sergeant is shown breaking down in tears.
