Harley Breen has made an unexpected return to breakfast radio.

The stand-up comedian was last on the airwaves in 2017 when he co-hosted The Em Rusciano Radio Show with Harley Breen on 2Day FM.

He’s now co-hosting Triple M Brisbane’s Winter Breakfast with Dobbo, Elliott & Harley Breen alongside Ben ‘Dobbo’ Dobbin and Elliot Lovejoy for the next few weeks.

The usual Triple M breakfast show hosted by Greg ‘Marto’ Martin and Margaux Parker will return on July after the scheduled survey break, reports Radio Today.

Harley famously did not get along with co-anchor Em Rusciano when they worked together at Sydney’s struggling 2Day FM.

There were even rumours they stopped speaking to each other off air for a week at one stage, according to News.com.au.

He lasted less than a year, quitting in November 2017 after taking the job in January.

A year later he admitted he hadn’t spoken to Em since his departure.

He also said there had been moments when ‘it was tough on air because of some off air behaviours’ – but didn’t get into specifics.

2Day FM ended up scrapping its breakfast show altogether in mid-2019, replacing it with a cheaper, music-only format curated by Jamie Angel.

The station’s current breakfast show is hosted by Ed Kavalee, Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes and Erin Molan. The ratings are still bad.
