Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe’s fortune soars by £10m to more than £89m

Daniel Radcliffe’s fortune has soared by almost £10million this year, company filings have revealed.

The actor’s firm Gilmore Jacobs is now worth a staggering £89.2million, including £3.1million worth of investment properties, after profits of £9.5million this year.

Accounts filed this month by Gilmore Jacobs Ltd, of which his parents Alan and Marcia are directors, showed Daniel has £10.3million in cash.

The company’s assets also include £18.8million worth of fixed assets and £43.1million in short-term investments, according to filings from the year leading up to March 2021.

Daniel, 32, owns just under half the shares in the company, which generates money from investments and his acting career, including all Harry Potter-related earnings.

Daniel’s parents established Gilmore Jacobs back in 2000, before he came to screen in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001, and are still directors.

His parents are the only directors of the company, but have always made it plain that the money it generates is for Daniel alone.

He reportedly earned more than £700,000 ($1million) for the first Harry Potter film, which was released when he was 12.

Speaking to Forbes magazine, Daniel said that he was ‘fortunate’ financially from an early age.

He added: ‘When you’re young you’re obviously not going to be handling it [money] then, it would be something that would just overwhelm.’

MailOnline has contacted Daniel’s representatives for comment.

Daniel is set to return to screens for the Sky Max reunion show – Harry Potter 20th Anniversary – Return To Hogwarts on New Year’s Day.

In a clip from the forthcoming show, Daniel admitted he had a secret teenage crush on co-star Helena Bonham Carter while working on the Harry Potter film franchise.

Despite playing fierce adversaries – Radcliffe as bespectacled boy wizard Potter and Bonham Carter as Voldemort’s evil lieutenant Bellatrix Lestrange – the pair enjoyed a close friendship off-camera.

And Radcliffe, now 32, admits he had a soft spot for his 55-year old co-star, despite their 23-year age difference.

In a clip from the show, the actor shared a note he sent Bonham Carter after completing work on the ten-year franchise in 2011.

Reading his message aloud for the first time, he said: ‘Dear HBC, it was a pleasure being your co-star and coaster in the fact I always ended up holding your coffee.

‘I do love you and I wish I’d just been born ten years earlier so I might’ve been in with a chance.’

Radcliffe wasn’t alone in developing an on-set crush, with Emma Watson, 31, recalling the exact moment that she ‘fell in love’ with her former co-star Tom Felton, 34, during a tutoring session between filming.

The actress – who played Hermione Granger in the wizarding movie franchise – reminisced about her crush on Felton, villainous Draco Malfoy, and vividly recalled him making her heart skip a beat for the first time.

The pair also shared a warm embrace as they hugged with delight while reuniting on camera in The Great Hall for the TV special.

Tom was 14 years old when the first Harry Potter movie came out in 2001, while Emma was just 11. They both starred in all eight Harry Potter films.

She recalled: ‘I walked into the room where we were having tutoring. The assignment that had been given was to draw what you thought God looked like, and Tom had drawn a girl with a backward cap on a skateboard.

‘And I just don’t know how to say it – I just fell in love with him. I used to come in every day and look for his number on the call sheet, it was number seven, and if his name was on the call sheet, it was an extra exciting day.

‘He was three years above me and so for him he was like: “you’re like my little sister”.’

Despite being at the centre of dating rumours for years, to Emma’s disappointment nothing ever happened between her and Tom, although the actor admitted that he was fully aware of his secret admirer.

Tom said: ‘I think I was in the hair and make-up chair and someone said something along the lines of, “Yeah, she had a crush on you.”

‘I became very protective over her. Yeah, I’ve always had a soft spot for her and that continues to this day. There’s always been something that’s like, I don’t know, a kinship.’

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is set to debut on January 1, 2022 on HBO Max.

It is also available to watch on streaming service NOW on New Year’s Day, with an Entertainment Membership.
