Harry Styles and Kid Harpoon lead the nominations for the Ivor Novello Awards

Harry Styles and Kid Harpoon lead the nominations for the Ivor Novello Awards with three nods as Lewis Capaldi, Celeste and Arlo Parks are also recognised

Harry Styles has gained the most nominations at this year’s Ivor Novello Awards.

The singer, 27, is in with the chance of bagging two accolades at the forthcoming ceremony after him and his writing partner Kid Harpoon secured three nods in two categories. 

The songs which are nominated are Watermelon Sugar, which has already a Grammy and Brit awarded song, and Adore You off his 2019 album Fine Line.

The duo are also up for Songwriter of the Year but will have to fight off some stiff competition if they want to walk away with the trophy as AJ Tracey, Celeste and Jamie Hartman, Kamille and MNEK have also been nominated in the same category.

Another category which may be challenging is the PRs for Music Most Performed Work – in which Harry’s two songs have received nominations. 

Lewis Capaldi also has two songs in the category, his ‘Before You Go’ and ‘Someone You Loved’ while Joel Corry feat. MNEK’s ‘Head & Heart’ will also be in the running.

Along with, Laura Marling’s ‘Song For Our Daughter’ and Tom Misch and Yussef Dayes’ ‘What Kind of Music.’ 

Arlo Parks, the winner of Best New Artist at the Brit Awards, picked up her first nomination at the awards, for her song Black Dog in the category for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.    

Celeste will also be up for this category for her track Stop This Flame, as well as the song Man’s World by Marina, formerly Marina And The Diamonds.

Headie One & Fred again..’s song Gang, and God’s Own Children by Obongjayar are also nominated.

The 66th presentation of Ivor Novello Awards at The Ivors with Apple Music will be held at Grosvenor House, London on September 21.
