A 36-year-old woman who was killed in a suspected hit and run has been identified. 

Julie Thomsen, from Gatton, in Queensland, was hit by a vehicle travelling on the Warrego Highway at Hatton Vale, west of Brisbane, between 10.30pm and 11pm on Saturday.

She was around 200 metres away from a service station when she was hit.

She died at the scene with a Queensland Ambulance spokesperson telling ABC her injuries were 'incompatible with life'

Police believe Ms Thomsen was walking with a man back to a broken-down vehicle on the side of road when she was hit.

The man who was walking with her was unharmed.

Ms Thomsen’s sister Jodie said she will not stop looking for the driver of the car that hit her.

‘A woman can’t just get hit by a car and no one see anything,’ she wrote online.

‘So who ever you are, I will not stop looking for who took my twin sister’s life away in an instant.’

Ms Thomsen’s son Ethan wrote a tribute to his mother on social media on Sunday, according to the Courier Mail.

‘RIP Mum I love you so much,’ he wrote.

Another family member – Sarah Clarke – also wrote a tribute for Ms Thomsen and called her the ‘best aunty’. 

Police are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
