A mother-of-four has revealed how she shed 10kg in just four weeks in an astonishing body transformation after she overhauled her lifestyle.

Elyse Larven, from New South Wales, had struggled with her fluctuating weight after two years of ‘neglect’ and ‘self doubt’ before she had a wake up call.

But she was determined to get on top of her weight once and for all after she lost her job due to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘When lockdown hit, of course, I lost my job, within two days of losing my job, I quit smoking and stopped my unhealthy relationship with alcohol,’ she told The Healthy Mummy.

‘How something so scary and unknown like Covid made me wake up and change my whole life is still crazy to me, but I did it.’

Elyse credits her 30-kilo weight loss to The Healthy Mummy after joining the program in 2015. She went on to shed a further 10 kilos of stubborn fat in just four weeks at the start of the Covid lockdown.

‘In the beginning, I struggled with not working and feeling trapped however in all honesty Covid actually saved my life, I finally got to breathe and take my life back,’ she said.

‘I’m grateful enough to be able to hit the gym and continue on with my journey of health and fitness.’

During her weight loss this year, she set up a gym in her shed and would do 30 to 40 minutes of boxing a day.

Her daily routine included morning walks between five to nine kilometres with her children while they rode on their bikes.

BREAKFAST: Protein smoothie with berries, avocado, banana, kale and baby spinach

SNACK: Apple with homemade almond butter and a baked treat

LUNCH: Beef and beet salad with creamy balsamic dressing

DINNER: Fajita bowl with cauliflower rice

Instead of driving to the shops, she would walk for four kilometres to get ingredients to cook dinner for her family.

She followed a healthy meal plan every day, which included a protein smoothie with berries, avocado, banana, kale and baby spinach for breakfast.

For snacks she would enjoy an apple with homemade almond butter and a baked treat before having a beef salad with a creamy balsamic dressing.

By dinnertime, she’d prepare a fajita bowl with cauliflower rice.

‘My overall health has changed completely, I no longer wake up with sore joints or exhausted. My blood pressure and cholesterol are spot-on, I’m fit and healthy and love life,’ she said.

‘What I am seeing [through my journey] is needed change not just physically but mentally too, the physical side of change is my body is becoming toned, my skin is clear, my hair has stopped falling out and I look and feel younger.

‘I’m still setting new goals to keep me motivated, I’m still training five to six days a week, not because I have to but because I love it. My food will always be on point not because I’m strict but because I love how much better I feel eating healthy.’
