A Canadian figure skater has paid an emotional tribute to his dead brother by leaping over his picture after the sibling died in a road smash.  

Keegan Messing, 27, wept as he performed the heartbreaking routine at a gala performance at Skate America in Las Vegas. 

The Alberta native’s younger brother, Paxon, 26, died less than a month ago when an SUV smashed into his motorcycle.

Messing glided on to the stage while carrying a picture of Paxon and put it down in the center of the ice. 

He then performed a heartwarming routine to Here I Am by Bryan Adams with tears streaming down his face. 

At one point he leaped into the air and somersaulted over the photograph of Paxon. 

He then finished the moving routine by kneeling next to the photograph with his hand on his heart.

Messing, who placed fourth with a total score of 239.34, also performed a tribute routine for his new wife, Lane, who he married over the summer

After his performance he said: ‘Going out there and skating, it was kind of like a last goodbye.’

He told CBC: ‘For her to be here to see it was very special to me. I have some great support here with me. 

‘My wife’s here, both my parents and some very close friends for support. Honestly, I couldn’t ask for a better situation.’
