Heather Locklear was arrested for felony domestic violence at her Southern California mansion in February.
But on Friday a source told TMZ Heather’s sister is insisting that the fight was not the Melrose Place actress’ fault.
It was added that even though the beauty, 56, was taken in by police for hitting her beau as well as police officers, she was the actual victim as her boyfriend Chris Heisser tried to ‘choke and kill her.’
Another take: Heather Locklear was arrested on February 25 and found she had almost bitten off her boyfriend Chris Heisser’s nose; but her sister told police the boyfriend was trying to kill Heather, TMZ reported on Friday
It didn’t go well: Police officers who responded to the residence found her uncooperative and she allegedly attacked three of them as they tried to make an arrest
She has two sisters: Colleen and Laurie. It is not known which sister spoke to police.
And it has also been reported that Heather talked to the authorities the night the incident happened.
The star said at the time to police that Heisser ‘choked her to the point she couldn’t breathe,’ a source told the site. But it was also claimed ‘she had no marks on her neck,’ it was added.
It is not known if she was taken to the hospital for examination or if photographs besides her mug shot were taken.
From love to hate? The sister said the man tried to ‘choke and kill’ the star. Heather told police the same thing at the time
Scene of the incident: The altercation occurred at her Thousand Oaks, California home
When police arrived, Heisser was standing on the side of the bed leaning over Heather and holding her wrists while she was on the bed. This is according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s deputy who talked to TMZ.
Heather was arrested because the boyfriend said she tried to bite his nose and had gone ‘wild’ because she had been drinking.
But he was arrested for a DUI just hours later so he seemed to not be thinking clearly either. This could turn into a case of he said/she said, the site hinted.

She and her boyfriend Heisser had gotten into an altercation and things turned violent when the actress allegedly almost bit off his nose.
Police officers who responded to the residence found her uncooperative and she allegedly attacked three of them as they tried to make an arrest.
She was taken to a local hospital for a check up before being transported to jail.
She was booked on a felony count of domestic violence and three counts of misdemeanor battery on a peace officer. She later posted a $20,000 bail and is due in court on March 13.
According to TMZ, Heather told cops: ‘If you ever come back to my house I will shoot you.’

On Tuesday, law enforcement returned to her home in an exclusive gated community to search for a weapon after obtaining a search warrant.
Not her first run in with the law: She was also arrested in 2008 in Santa Barbara
The website reported she has a handgun registered to her name that she obtained in 1985. However, the search did not turn up the gun.
ET’s source told the TV show that Heather believes ‘this whole situation is just one big mistake’ and she blames her brother for calling the cops on her.
Meanwhile, People reported this week that Locklear has been ‘struggling and fragile’ ever since her divorce from Sambora in 2007. The couple wed in 1994.
The actress who also starred in TV’s T.J. Hooker, has a history of substance abuse and anxiety issues.
Last September, she was arrested last September after crashing her Porsche into a ditch while driving to Heisser’s home. No charges were filed after an investigation revealed she was sober at the time.
Begged: A source told Entertainment Tonight that it was Heather’s 20-year-old daughter Ava Sambora who had finally persuaded her mom to seek help
In 2011, when she was dating her former Melrose Place co-star Jack Wagner, LAPD officers were called to his home after the two allegedly got into a heated argument and she punched him. No charges were filed by either party after the pair took part in a formal meeting at the LA County Attorney’s Office.
Locklear was pulled over in September 2008 on suspicion of DUI after she was seen driving erratically. An eyewitness told officials with the California Highway Patrol that Locklear ‘was revving her engine loudly, and backed over a pair of sunglasses several times’.
While a drug test found no alcohol or illegal narcotics in her system, she was charged with one misdemeanor count of DUI. The Santa Barbara County Deputy District Attorney Lee Carter said he believed medication she was on for anxiety and depression ‘could have impaired her ability to safely drive a motor vehicle’.
Supportive: After her famous mom entered a treatment facility, Ava and her dad Richie Sambora headed off to Hawaii for a break together; seen in 2005
Locklear pleaded no contest to reckless driving and the DUI charge was dropped. She was sentenced to three years of informal probation, a DMV driver safety class and a $700 fine.
In March of that year, paramedics and police officers rushed to Locklear’s home when a man claiming to be her doctor called 911, saying he feared she was trying to commit suicide.
Locklear was also on Dynasty with Joan Collins
While Locklear appeared fine when cops showed up at her door, authorities say they believe the doctor’s concern was legitimate since Locklear appeared to be suffering from anxiety and depression.
In April 2010, she was arrested again for felony hit and run after crashing her BMW into a sign close to the gated community where she lived with Sambora.
On that occasion, Locklear was cleared due to ‘insufficient evidence’.
In January 2012, authorities responded to Locklear’s house again after her sister called 911, who feared her life was in danger after mixing prescription medication and alcohol. Locklear was taken to the hospital but was discharged the next day.
As far as Heather being in rehab, the actress is ‘getting the help she finally needs,’ a source told Entertainment Tonight Wednesday.
They added she has been battling substance abuse ‘for years.’
The unnamed insider revealed that it was Heather’s 20-year-old daughter Ava Sambora who had finally persuaded her mom to seek help.
‘Ava begged her mom to go to rehab,’ the source told ET.
‘After Heather finally agreed, Ava went away with her father to get a break from it all,’ the source explained.
Ava and her father Richie Sambora have headed to Hawaii with the former Bon Jovi rocker focusing on being there to support his only child during this difficult time.
