Morrissey could have been forgiven for amending the lyrics to one of his best known songs as he ventured in a wet and windy Cheshire on Thursday.

Indeed, heaven knows its miserable now was an appropriate way to describe the awful weather in leafy Alderley Edge, where the iconic singer was seen buying flowers with a male friend.

Morrissey, 59, protected himself from the pouring rain by pulling a jacket over his head after climbing from his car.

Seemingly unimpressed, The Smiths star – a staunch vegan – kept himself covered beneath the item as he trudged into the  G Wienholt Bakery.

Sources later confirmed to the Manchester Evening News that it was his first visit to the bakery, which is also said to be popular with New Order front-man Bernard Sumner.

Morrissey looked relaxed in a black gilet and loose fitting jeans during his latest appearance, with trainers and a traditional flat cap rounding things off.

Accompanied by a friend, the star bought lunch items and visited a florist before leaving with a colourful selection of flowers.

Fortunately for the star his male company was on hand to do the carrying, and he as seen wrestling with two floral bouquets and a shopping bag while empty handed Morrissey walked two steps behind.
