Hefner’s widow claimed Viagra made him ‘lose his hearing’

Hugh Hefner’s 31-year-old widow Crystal Harris said that taking too much Viagra made her husband lose his hearing during a 2011 radio interview.

Harris was being interviewed on Howard Stern’s show weeks after breaking off her first engagement to the Playboy magnate when she made the claim.

At the time, she had unexpectedly broken up with Hefner, who was then aged 85, in June 2011 – five days before their wedding ceremony.

Harris appeared on the New York shock jock’s show and was asked about her sex life with Hefner.

The then-26-year-old said: ‘He tries not to take Viagra any more because it makes him lose his hearing.’

This interview is also when she made the claim, that she later took back, that Hefner lasted ‘about two seconds’ in bed.

She said: ‘Hef doesn’t really take off his clothes.

‘I have never seen him naked… I am not turned on by Hef. Sorry.’

Harris, who was December 2009’s Playmate of the Month, issued a public apology to Hefner not long after and the pair reconciled.

They were married in December 2012 – with her becoming his third and final wife.

But Harris isn’t the only one to make the claim that the Playboy mogul was deaf.

HOW VIAGRA CAN LEAD TO EAR DAMAGE

A 2007 study revealed that Viagra can lead to lead to a sudden loss of hearing in one or both ears.

The drug can also cause tinnitus, which leads to the perception of a ringing sound in one’s ears.

Tinnitus is a symptom ailments such as ear injury, age-related hearing loss and circulatory system disorder.

The study prompted an FDA warning to Viagra consumers, letting them know that the drug could damage their auditory system.

The administration said that in a third of the cases they observed, the hearing loss caused by the drug was temporary.

The reason that the drug can lead to hearing loss is unknown, but some experts think that it could be because it increases blood flow to the ears.

Karissa said: ‘He said he would rather have sex than have his hearing.

‘He has hearing aids now and even then he can only hear out of one ear.

‘You have to lean down and talk into his good ear for him to understand you.

‘We could sit right next to him and he wouldn’t have a clue what we said.’
