Sitting in Tassie’s wilderness world heritage area, the pristine Lake Pedder is one of the country’s largest fresh water lakes.

Those keen to take a dip in the spring will have to brave a two-hour drive on gravel roads but the rewards will be worth it.

 Explorer’s Way, South Australia to Northern Territory

Adventurers after an epic road trip passing by some of the country’s favourite natural beauties will love Explorer’s Way – a 3000km driving trail that connects Adelaide to Darwin. 

There are many possible itineraries but the track should take a minimum of 14 days if you want to take in everything the journey has to offer.  

Drivers on Explorer’s Way can stop and explore some of Australia’s iconic outback treasures including Coober Pedy, Uluru, Watarrka, Devils Marbles, and the Macdonnell Ranges.

Lost City, New South Wales 

Just a short drive away from Lithgow lies one of the Blue Mountain’s best hidden gems, The Lost City.

Beyond the region’s usual tourist attractions are these striking natural rock formations that together resemble a crumbling city skyline. 

You will need a proper four-well drive to get the to unique stone pagodas but keen hikers can also walk the 3km from Bungleboori.

Five Beaches loop track, Queensland 

Only 10km from the country’s most northern point is a secluded 4WD track that winds through a series of isolated beaches.  

Located on the eastern side of Cape York Peninsula, the track will lead keen four-wheel-drivers to a string of isolated beaches, stunning lakes, rainforests, and rolling hills with plenty of camping and fishing spots. 

A small detour away from the track is the Sommerset ruins that are definitely worth a visit for history buffs.
