A quick-thinking 12-year-old girl saved her baby brother from being kidnapped by stranger in an Oklahoma diner in a heart-stopping moment caught on surveillance footage.

On Thursday December 26 Makayla Phillips, 12, and her two younger siblings went out to lunch at Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburger in Lawton with their grandmother when a woman they didn’t know approached them and kissed the two younger children.

‘[She] gave them both a kiss. My grandma, she thought it was weird and not right, so she decided to move us to a different table,’ Phillips said.

Then the woman suddenly grabbed her two-year-old brother Brett, leading Makayla to cry out and snatch her brother out of the stranger’s arms.

The woman then appeared to move towards Makayla’s younger sister, but the grandma quickly approached to defend the child.

‘She was saying my brother was her baby, and I was just yelling back at her saying, “That’s not her baby, that’s my brother,”’ Makayla said to KSWO.

Once the abduction attempt was foiled, the woman began to make bizarre, deranged comments.

‘She was talking about how she had a baby and she decapitated her baby and how she did all these things to her baby. She was a very disturbed woman. A very disturbed woman,’ Makayla said.

Once restaurant employees realized what was happening they kicked the woman out.

That woman has been identified as 59-year-old Michelle Rene Litton but she is yet to be located and arrested.

Police reviewed video footage of the incident and identified the attempted kidnapper as Litton due to multiple prior interactions including drug and prostitution arrests as well as intake to mental health facilities

Police were called around 5pm that same day to speak with the Phillips family about the attempted kidnapping.

Makayla’s father told the cops about the abduction attempt and cops for store surveillance video of the attempt. 

Cops described Makayla as ‘distraught’. The suspect was described as ‘rambling and talking crazy about how she decapitated her own baby and that she was a prostitute.’

Police reviewed video footage of the incident and identified the attempted kidnapper as Litton due to multiple prior interactions including drug and prostitution arrests as well as intake to mental health facilities, according to SWOK News.

Litton as a prior felony conviction in Comanche County for assault and/or battery with a dangerous weapon in July 2002, according to prison records 

The children’s mother Crystal Phillips was at work when the abduction attempt took place was horrified to hear that a stranger nearly snatched away her kids.

‘Especially in a public place where there are so many eyewitnesses, so many people, there was no shame, no nothing. It’s terrible,’ Crystal Phillips said.
