Hero cyclist smashes windscreen to save driver trapped in burning truck after crash in China [VIDEO]

This is the moment a passing cyclist hurled a rock at the windscreen of a burning truck to rescue a trapped driver after a crash in eastern China.

Footage from the street shows Chen Yiyong, who was passing by on an electric bicycle, use a rock he found nearby to free the man who was knocking on the window as he couldn’t get out.

There are no casualties caused by the incident, which took place on November 26, in Anji County, Huzhou, Zhejiang.

Those who witnessed the scene rushed to help put out the fire, which engulfed the small truck immediately after the crash.

A video recording shows the small truck making a left turn before a white car comes in quickly and hits it in its side. 

Mr Yiyong told local media: ‘I saw the driver struggling inside, knocking on the window.

Those who witnessed the scene rush to help put out the fire, which engulfed the small truck immediately after the crash

‘At the time, my idea was to save people first, so I ran to the side and found a stone and smashed the window.’

The heroic cyclist added that he had to hit the window more than once before the trapped driver was able to get out.   

Others who were waiting in traffic can be seen getting off their motorcycles to help and merchants in shops nearby rushed towards the blaze with fire extinguishers. 

Firefighters later attended the scene and traffic police is still investigating the accident.
