Hero firefighter rescues dog stranded on melting ice

A dog stranded on thin melting ice in Massachusetts was taken to dry land thanks to a firefighter who came to her rescue.

Rosie was stuck sliding around on Harris pond Sunday afternoon in Blackstone before a team rushed to assist her.

The poor pup was seen on video wiggling on the melting ice in attempt not to fall through.

The firefighter scooped in to pick up Rosie before the rescue team helped them both out of the pond through a rope.

The poor pup was seen on video wiggling on the melting ice in attempt not to fall through before the firefighter pulled her out

The Blackstone Police Department took to their Facebook page after to share the happy news.

‘Today around 3pm Officer’s and the Fire Dept. responded to the section of Harris pond behind the DPW for a dog who is stuck on the ice,’ Blackstone Police wrote.

‘Fire Dept geared up in a survival suit and was able to make his way through the melting pond and carry “Rosie” back to safety! Nice job!’

The adorable Rosie is now safe indoors with her family. 

Several cheerful Facebook users commented their thankful responses.

‘Awesome news!!! Glad she is safe now!!! Amazing work to you all!!!,’ one said. 

Another said: ‘Great job fighter fighter Blake!!! Your team rocks!!!!’ 

While one more added: ‘Tugs at your heartstrings, a nice reminder there’s still good out there.’
