Hero New York cop gives the kiss of life to a baby

  • Natalia Alba, who turns one in December had a seizure and stopped breathing

This is the dramatic moment a hero cop revived a baby who had a seizure on the New York subway by giving her the kiss of life. 

Natalia Alba, who turns one in December had a seizure and stopped breathing at the 42nd Street subway station at Eight Avenue at around 6pm on Thursday. 

Her parents rushed her to the headquarters of the NYPD Transit Manhattan Task force, where officers immediately began working to revive her.

Meanwhile, Officer John Williams diagnosed her as suffering a febrile seizure caused by a fever, and brought Natalia's temperature under control by covering her with ice

Meanwhile, Officer John Williams diagnosed her as suffering a febrile seizure caused by a fever, and brought Natalia’s temperature under control by covering her with ice.

As the officers battled to revive the baby her parents Andy Alban and Nadia Romero, who were visiting New York from Ecuador, held her hand. 

After several minutes, Natalia began breathing again. Describing the moment, Williams said, ‘It was a beautiful sound’. 

Despite the officers’ quick-thinking work, Williams spoke for the group in insisting he was not a hero.

‘No, it was just part of the job,’ he said. ‘I was doing my job.’
