WHAT ARE BOX JELLYFISH?

Box Jellyfish is considered one of the most dangerous marine animals and derives its name from the box or bell shape of its body.

Its 60 tentacles that have the potential to inflict fatal stings to humans.

They are found in the waters in north Queensland, around NT coast and in Western Australia.

Mr Williams said he rushed over to the boat to help the men on board but couldn’t come within 50 metres because of the fire.

‘I was worried about the boat exploding so I had to keep a bit of distance,’ he said.

‘There was one guy in the engine room trying to fight the fire.’

The fisherman spotted one of the men in a life raft and yelled for all three to abandoned ship so he could pick them up and take them to the shore.

Mr Williams said the men were ‘shaken up’ and didn’t speak much after the ‘heart-breaking’ incident.

Shae Denim, one of the men rescued by Mr Williams, said the boat was his father-in-laws and costs roughly $500,000.

He told the ABC the boat was destroyed just minutes after he first saw smoke billow from the craft.

Mr Demin told the publication Mr Williams is a hero.

He rushed over to the vessels and urged all three men to jump in the water so he could pick them up and take them to the shore
