‘He’s an idiot but NOT a paedophile’: Prince Andrew’s cousin Christina Oxenberg defends him and says the ‘only thing FBI needs to know from him is whereabouts of Ghislaine Maxwell’
- Serbian-American writer Christina Oxenberg says Andrew is not a paedophile
- She says he did ‘idiotic things’ and was ‘used’ by US billionaire Jeffrey Epstein
- ‘He loves his mother and doesn’t want to bring her grief,’ Ms Oxenberg said
Prince Andrew’s second cousin has claimed the embattled duke is an ‘idiot’ but not a paedophile.
Christina Oxenberg, 57, said Andrew did not know he was being ‘used’ by Jeffrey Epstein and she hopes he will help investigators with their probe into the deceased American billionaire.
Serbian-American writer Ms Oxenberg added that Epstein had a ‘goal’ to meet the Duke of York and achieved that through his ‘enabler’ Ghislaine Maxwell.
She said the only thing the FBI needs to know from Andrew is how to track the newspaper baron’s daughter down.
‘That’s all you need from him,’ Ms Oxenberg told Fox News. ‘What can he say? ”I’m sorry I was an idiot.” How many times do you want him to say that? We get it.’
‘He did idiotic things,’ Ms Oxenberg added. ‘But he’s not a paedophile. He’s not a sex ring organizer. I’m sure he’s filled with regret and remorse. He loves his family. He’s duty-bound. He loves his mother and doesn’t want to bring her grief.’

Andrew has faced mounting pressure in recent days after both the FBI and New York state attorney Geoffrey Berman accused him of ‘zero co-operation’ with a probe into Epstein.
The US officials are seeking to interview the royal about his relationship with Epstein – something that Andrew previously said he was happy to discuss with authorities.
The royal furiously denied claims he had been dodging an interview, while the Queen and Prince Charles held crisis talks over the situation.

Virginia Roberts claims she was Epstein’s sex slave and that she had sex with the Duke of York three times, including once in London when she was 17, once in New York and another time at Epstein’s private Caribbean island of Little St James.
Prince Andrew has ’emphatically’ denied any relationship with the mother-of-three, who now lives in Cairns in Australia, ‘in any form’ and that he does not recall a 2001 picture of him with Ms Roberts and Ghislaine Maxwell being taken.
Earlier this week Ms Oxenberg revealed that Maxwell had become so besotted with Epstein that she asked her to write a biography in an attempt to convince the financier to propose.
Ms Oxenberg said Maxwell rang her in 1997 with instructions to meet at her Manhattan flat, which she says was ‘nicely decorated, if you appreciate conventional chintz and predictable, oversized faux Ming vases’.
‘We sat together and were served iced tea by a maid in uniform,’ Ms Oxenberg said.
‘Maxwell got through the perfunctory politesse of social norms and then she got serious and she started to pace around the room with her hands on her slim hips and eyes staring off into some middle distance, visualising the hopes of her future.’

Ms Oxenberg, who had been working on her semi-autobiographical novel Royal Blue, says Maxwell told her: ‘What I want from you is my Royal Blue.
‘Jeffrey and I can’t go on not being married. It doesn’t look right. And I love him. I’ve done everything for him. Everything he’s asked.
‘With this autobiography that you are going to write for me about my life he will fall in love with me. He will respect me finally. And then he will marry me. And that’s my goal.’
Ms Oxenberg, who is publishing her memoirs via the website Patreon, said that this was ‘long before anyone of the public including myself knew anything nefarious was going on behind the scenes’.
‘We were never going to be close friends,’ she added. ‘We were almost polar opposites. She craved a swishy, fancy life — something that didn’t interest me.’
