A high school principal is being sued by a former student who says he tried to groom her, bought her a car and exchanged thousands of texts with her three years ago when she was just 16.

Andrew Cavanaugh is being sued by the former student, now 19, who says he paid ‘special attention’ to her when she was a junior at Medomak Valley High School in Portland, Maine, in 2017.

She claims he told her to go on birth control, bought her personal hygiene products and gave them to her in front of other staff and students, and made sexual comments about her appearance.

The girl, who is not named in the lawsuit, said she took her concerns to another staff member at the school – Chuck Nguyen – who she claims said Cavanaugh was just trying to act like a ‘father figure’ to her.

Among the remarks the principal allegedly made was that she looked ‘sexy’ in her prom dress.

She also alleges that he text her once saying: ‘I might have to give a spanking’.

Details including Cavanaugh’s age, whether or not he was married and whether or not the pair ever engaged in sex acts are not included in the lawsuit.

According to the student, Cavanaugh asked her to move in with him in her senior year.

He also bought her a car and said that she could work for him to pay it off, saying: ‘Don’t worry cupcake, I won’t sell you into white slavery.’

When the girl was pulled over for speeding, she claims he tried to take the car off of her, saying in one text: ‘I like to help you and it does seem to cause problems.

‘I know you are super hot and that probably does influence me, but you must know by now that I really do like you as a person.’

A third party reported their inappropriate relationship to the school and he was placed on administrative leave.

Afterwards, the girl claims Nyugen called her into his office and said Cavanaugh has a drinking problem.

The lawsuit seeks damages and costs for the girl’s legal fees. It also names Nyugen as a co-defendant.
