Hilary Duff confesses ‘sex was really not interesting’ during recent pregnancy with daughter Mae

Hilary Duff got candid about her most recent pregnancy with daughter Mae and revealed how she wasn’t really into sex while carrying her third child.

That came in complete contrast to her previous two pregnancies, where she used sex as means to help get through the last phases of a pregnancy which can be very uncomfortable for many women.

‘Sex really was not interesting for me at all this time around. So toward the end, where with Banks that felt like a really helpful-slash-fun tool, this time I was like, “Nope, not for me,”‘ the actress, 33, explained during a conversation with Dr. Elliot Berlin for a post-birth edition of the Informed Pregnancy Podcast.

Hilary Duff, 33, revealed she had a reduced sex drive, especially during the last phases of her pregnancy with daughter Mae, during a conversation with Dr. Elliot Berlin for a post-birth edition of Informed Pregnancy Podcast

With the mindset that sex is thought to potentially speed labor along: Hilary just couldn’t bring herself to get in the mood and do it.

‘And it like annoyed me majorly when people would say, “You know what really gets things started?” I’m like, “Nope!”‘ she said in reference to people who offered suggestions about how to spark the sex flame with husband Matthew Koma at 7, 8, 9 months pregnant.

‘Poor Matt, but maybe not. Maybe he was like, “This is for the better right now.”‘

The Younger star initially believed her reduced sex drive meant she was having a second baby boy, but in hindsight she now thinks it was just her body’s way of telling her she was ‘exhausted’.

‘I thought I was having a boy because with Banks I was totally down, and with this baby, I was like …’ she added before taking a pause to consider her older daughter Banks, two, and son Luca, nine.

‘I don’t know if it was maybe having more kids and trying to keep up with everybody that just made it kind of at night feeling exhausted and just really not a ton of time. I felt like a little more protective of my body this time around.’

During the podcast, the Lizzie McGuire actress also recalled the amount of time she was in labor with Mae, which lasted just three hours.

‘I was laughing at the way it was going down, because people were having to scramble to get home. I thought that was funny and I love to play tricks on people. There was humor in it and I felt really ready.’ she revealed to People magazine.

‘Then it was probably about an hour and a half to two hours in, where they started to get super heavy and I was struggling to keep up. But my head was in the game and I felt a lot more confident in the way that I was birthing than I did before.’

She added, ‘So I was really trying to be present, and relaxed, and make every contraction work for me.’

The couple, who have been married since December 2019, welcomed Mae to Planet Earth on March 24.
