Hillary Clinton said that women who support President Donald Trump are ‘publicly disrespecting themselves’ and that he is doing ‘worse than I thought’.
In an interview on Saturday on MSNBC’s AM Joy, the 2016 presidential hopeful said she was surprised by women who supported Trump given his past contentious remarks – including the ‘grab them by the p****’ controversy.
‘When I see women doing that, I think: “Why are they publicly disrespecting themselves?”,’ Clinton told host Joy Reid.
‘”Why are they opening the door to have someone say that about them in their workplace? In a community setting? Do they not see the connection there?'”

Clinton also said it was ‘troubling’ to hear people chanting ‘Lock her up’ in reference to jailing her over deleted emails, chants that continue to be used when Trump (pictured, Friday) appears at rallies
Clinton gave the response when Reid asked her about women at Trump rallies who wore profane T-shirts ‘that used the b-word, the c-word about you.’
‘And I think that’s one of the problems with sexism,’ Clinton continued.
‘We had such a public and still an ongoing movement to expand civil rights. Again, I’m proud of the progress, but we still have a lot of problems we have to confront.’
She also said it was ‘troubling’ to hear people chanting ‘Lock her up’ in reference to jailing her over deleted emails.
‘It was deeply troubling on several levels,’ Clinton said.
‘And I try to unpack this, because first of all it’s not pleasant to be called names and to be subjected to the kind of insults that come across the online media all the time, which we see when women express an opinion.’
Despite the campaign being over, the chants of ‘Lock her up’ have not ended at Trump events. The crowd chanted the phrase on Friday during Trump’s speech at a rally for Alabama Senate candidate Luther Strange.
Trump responded to the crowd, saying they should talk to Attorney General Jeff Sessions about that.

Clinton has not been shy about criticizing her former rival, adding that his presidency is worse than she expected it would be.
“I really had such deep doubts about his preparation, his temperament, his character, his experience, but he’s been even worse than I thought he would be,’ she said.
‘We want to feel like the person in the Oval Office really cares about and is looking after everybody.
‘And that just hasn’t turned out to be the case, starting with our inauguration, which is how I opened the book, talking about how excruciating it was to go and what a missed opportunity for him because all he did was reinforce the dark, divisive image of America that he’d been feeding to his supporters.’
Clinton is currently in the process of promoting her new book ‘What Happened’, which documents her experience during the 2016 presidential campaign.
