Holly Todor whose weight spiralled to 117kg drops seven dress sizes

A 29-year-old mother who fell into the grips of a food addiction has dramatically dropped seven dress sizes in an astonishing body transformation.

Holly Todor lived off an unhealthy diet where she binged on fast food and takeaway, because she never felt satisfied – a lifestyle that saw her tip the scales at 117kg.

At her heaviest, she wore size 24 clothing, endured excruciating pain in her knee joints when she walked and she was ordering McDonald’s six times in five days.

For most part of her life, the Brisbane woman suffered from a binge eating disorder – but she noticed her weight spiralled out of control during her adulthood.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, the mother-of-two – who now looks unrecognisable – revealed how she shed nearly 50kg after she overcame her binge-eating habits.

Breakfast: Omelette with vegetables

Morning tea: Fruit and a protein bar – and if she skips the gym, she would also have four to five slices of bread with butter – and chocolate

Lunch: Salad sandwich

Afternoon tea: McDonald’s or ice cream

Dinner: Meat with salad or vegetables

Before embarking on her incredible weight loss journey, Ms Todor said she faced many challenges after she developed a binge eating disorder.

‘I suffered from binge eating disorder where food constantly controlled my mind. I was never satisfied with food,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘I often felt judged by people who looked at me and presumed I was lazy and fat. However, my lifestyle was quite the contrary. I mean, I was fat and food consumed me, but I exercised a lot and educated myself on food.

‘But no matter what I did, I gained the weight after I lost it. I often got comments like “why don’t you just stop eating” or “why don’t you eat salad instead of McDonald’s”.

‘Those people didn’t understand food addiction. I felt ashamed, especially when I hadn’t seen people for a while and I’d drastically gained 25kg.’

Ms Todor – who documents her weight loss journey on Instagram – described herself as a binge eater, who had an unhealthy relationship with food.

‘I was definitely a binge eater. I’d eat myself sick, then wait a few hours and do it again. Sometimes the binges would last two to three hours at a time. I associated eating with guilt and embarrassment and exercised a lot to try to fix it,’ she said.

‘I’d usually begin the day with super healthy intentions. I’d wake up thinking today was the day I’d break my food addiction. But sometimes even by 10am, I’d already binging severely.

‘I’d start with an omelette full of vegetables. Then I’d aim to have a piece of fruit and a protein bar for morning tea. If I didn’t got to the gym, I’d generally start binging. I’d have bread, sometimes four to five pieces with butter.

‘Then I’d search for something sweet, maybe some chocolate. I’d feel guilty again and so I would have a salad sandwich for lunch.

‘But maybe by the mid afternoon, I’d be craving for fast food so I’d go to a drive thru where no one could see me and eat a burger or ice cream.

‘For dinner, I’d usually eat with my family, usually meat and salad or vegetables. My main diet was always healthy, it was the binges in between that were the bad stuff.’

Breakfast: Egg omelette with bacon, spinach, capsicum, mushroom, avocado and cheese

Morning tea: Muesli, yoghurt and berries

Dinner: Healthy wholesome family meal with meat and vegetables

Her addiction saw even her ordering McDonald’s up to six times in five days.

‘I used to binge a lot on takeaway. Especially McDonald’s,’ she recalled.

‘Once I realised I’d eaten Maccas six times in five days. And I wouldn’t just get a normal meal, I’d get a large Big Mac meal and an extra cheeseburger to go along.

‘I could have eaten more than that if I was prepared to pay the money.’

As she struggled physically with her fluctuating weight, Ms Todor said she tried desperately to ‘fix my weight problem’ when she was 117kg.

‘I’d always been bigger than my friends but I actively tried to fix my weight problem every day for 10 years. I’d lose weight, but I would gain it again plus more. It was a horrible way to live,’ she said.

‘I was physically starting to struggle to hold the weight. My knees hurt and shoulders would get pain when I walked. I later realised that my knees were probably hurting because as I walked, I had to swing my legs slightly around because they were so big.

‘Mentally, I was still a happy, confident person but I knew my weight was out of control. After a binge, my mental health was at an all time low.

‘I’d always feel guilty and like a failure. Try waking up everyday for 19 years and failing what you’d hoped to achieve for that day.

‘I remember someone once said to me “you know when you’re stressed and you don’t eat?” That’s when it clicked to me that I eat for every emotion. I’d never experienced not wanting to eat before.’

She tried everything imaginable to lose weight, but nothing seemed to work.

‘I tried every diet under the sun. I also think that contributed to my eating disorder,’ she said.

‘Every time I’d try a new diet, I’d learn more about food and in the end, the diets all contradicted themselves and I felt guilt no matter what I ate.

If you have a broken leg, you get it fixed. I had a broken relationship with food and I needed help to fix it

‘For example, I did Weight Watchers where fruits and vegetables are unlimited and carbs were okay, then I’d try Paleo where carbs were evil. It all confused me a lot.’

‘A few people I know had gotten the surgery and I decided that I deserved to live a normal life, just like everyone else,’ she said.

Now my children can enjoy a happy, healthy mum for a long time

‘I enjoy going for walks with my dogs. I’m always at the gym, lifting weights four to five times a week. I even did a triathlon earlier this year, that was amazing. I also cycle too.’

For anyone struggling to lose weight and are keen to undergo surgery, Ms Todor said: ‘If you need help, I say go for it.

‘I definitely think you need to research nutrition and lead a healthy lifestyle, then surgery can be the tool that helps you get there,’ she explained.

‘For me, surgery was my last option and I honestly believe now that I couldn’t have the life I do today and I’m forever grateful for this medical option.

‘Now my children can enjoy a happy, healthy mum for a long time I hope.’
