Holly Willoughby rolls around the This Morning studio floor with 10 sausage dogs as she and Phillip Schofield prepare to go on summer break for TWO MONTHS

They’ve got, arguably, the easiest gig in television.

And on the eve of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s seven-week break from hosting ITV daytime show This Morning, the duo’s excitement about their impending 50 days of lie-ins was palpable.

This was evident when Holly, 38, and Phil, 57, were presented with a gaggle of sausage dogs to play with live on air.

School’s out for the summer: On the eve of Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s seven-week break from hosting ITV daytime show This Morning, they were presented with 10 adorable sausage dogs to play with live on air

Handed a bunch of dachshunds-on-leads each, the presenters were giddy as they fell to the floor and larked around with the excitable pups.

While some of the dogs tried to run amok and disappear off-camera (nearly dragging Holly with them) the others were more than happy to play on the This Morning set.

‘You are so cute, I love you!’ Holly gushed. ‘Thank you for bringing them in. They’re so strong, they could literally pull me across the room!’

Before long, Holly was flat on her back, laughing away as the canines trampled all over her.

This devil-may-care attitude seemed to be down to the ‘school’s out for the summer’ vibe the pair of broadcasters were feeling.

As of Friday, they go on their annual seven week hiatus, which sees them get the same amount of time off over the summer than school children do.

While Holly is the mother to three youngsters – Harry, 10, Belle, eight, and Chester, four – Phil’s daughters are both grown (Ruby is 23 and Molly is 26), so it’s likely he won’t be spending the summer at play dates or on child-friendly trips to the local safari park.

Holly and Phil’s summer off is worked into their contracts, as is the fact that they only have to work Monday-Thursday, with Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford normally taking over on a Friday.

Phil and Holly get the Christmas, Easter, and half-term breaks off as well, on top of their lengthy break for the summer.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10:30AM on ITV.
