Hollyoaks’ Ruby O’Donnell ‘splits from boyfriend of four years Sam Halsall as pair wipe all trace of each other from social media’

Hollyoaks star Ruby O’Donnell has reportedly split from her boyfriend after four years of dating.

The soap actress, 22, has parted ways with rugby player Sam Halsall after four years together, according to The Sun.

The pair first began dating in 2019 but have now wiped all trace of each other from their social media accounts.

Ruby, who plays Peri Lomax on the Channel 4 soap, had frequently shared loved-up snaps with Sam during their romance.

MailOnline has contacted representatives of Ruby for comment.

Ruby has been focusing on one of her hardest hitting storylines yet on Hollyoaks as her character Peri’s girlfriend Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw) died from lymphoma.

Speaking about the hard-hitting storyline, Ruby told MailOnline: ‘Obviously, losing Juliet is going to hit all the characters very hard, especially Peri as she’s never loved anyone as much as Juliet. The fans can expect lots of sad scenes as they all say the final goodbyes.

She added: ‘Over the years, Peri has had a lot of heartbreak, but this one is definitely going to hit the hardest. Losing someone that close to you so young is devastating, but I don’t think it’s going to fully hit Peri for a long time that Juliet is actually gone.

‘Anyone who’s ever experienced grief of a loved one, knows it takes so much time to even start to accept it.’

As fans appeared to be extremely touched with Juliet’s storyline ending, the former couple rekindling through her cancer’s death was certainly a silver lining.

‘When we found out Juliet and Peri were getting back together for the storyline, we were very happy,’ Ruby admitted.

‘We know how much of a fan base Jeri have grown over the years, and it just felt right for them to be together at the very end with everything they’ve been through.’

Despite the sadness of Juliet’s fight against terminal cancer, Ruby recalled when Peri had some unforgettable lighter moments with her girlfriend – such as the day out in Brighton.

‘Obviously when we were in Brighton, Juliet’s cancer wasn’t terminal yet. We thought it was important to have some lighter moments throughout this storyline for the fans to have nice memories to look back on of Jeri.’

The actress candidly admitted that although Peri had a few love interest throughout the series – nothing will ever compare to the way she loved Juliet, played by Niamh Blackshaw.

But Juliet was never just a love interest to Peri, in fact it was a deep character growth that bonded the duo through their storyline – making the loss a tougher obstacle to be tamed.

‘Peri has definitely matured as a character by being with Juliet, she’s taught her so much about sticking up for herself and being strong,’ she said.

‘She’ll never love someone as much as she loves Juliet.’

When asked about Peri’s future without Juliet, the actress said: ‘I think it’s very hard to say what’s next for Peri at the moment after Juliet has passed as all Peri saw in her future was Juliet.

‘But I hope one day, she will be able to find happiness in some way,’ she added.
