Hollywood legend is spotted in Cairns with a very different look than usual

Hollywood legend is spotted in Cairns with a very different look than his usual suave red carpet style… so do you recognise him?

He’s the legendary Australian filmmaker behind classics like Moulin Rouge! and Strictly Ballroom.

And on Wednesday, Baz Luhrmann was spotted in Cairns, Queensland, looking rather different to how fans are used to seeing him.

Instead of the dapper red carpet style that he’s known for, the 57-year-old director had wild, loose hair and wore a Hawaiian shirt with the top button undone.

The Oscar nominee was at a vintage store called The Other Shop with his daughter, Lilly.

Baz has been in Queensland shooting his upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, Elvis.

Production on the film came to a halt in March after actor Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, tested positive for coronavirus.

‘I’m sure it will come as no surprise that this is not the moment to be resuming production on the film,’ Baz said in a statement at the time.

‘Please know this is in no way a reflection on our commitment to make this movie here in Queensland,’ he added.

‘In fact, we are not even taking our sets down, simply locking up the creative space over the next few days.’

Baz explained that he had spoken to Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, and they agreed it wasn’t the right time for filming.

‘We all agree that right now this is the right time for people all over the world, from all walks of life, to be at home, indoors, with their loved ones (washing our hands five times a day),’ he said.

‘All going well, we have a passionate conviction to be back here on the Gold Coast, picking up where we left off as soon as the time is right,’ he concluded.
