Home And Away star Judy Nunn reveals she is appalled by reality TV

She’s been a regular on Australian television screens since 1974.

And while she has seen the industry change over the years, TV veteran Judy Nunn is far from amused with the popular shift towards reality television.

The former Home and Away star tells The Daily Telegraph she is ‘disgusted’ by reality TV and even compares it’s global consumers to ‘pigs’.

Not a fan! TV veteran Judy Nunn is far from amused with the popular shift towards reality television, calling it ‘criminal’

‘There’s too much bloody reality TV on. It disgusts me,’ she tells the paper, in no way mincing her words.

The former Sons and Daughters star added dramatically: ‘Let the world wallow in it like a pig in a trough.’

The veteran actress also told the paper that she dislikes that reality programs leave actors, directors, designers and writers out of work.

Complaining that new shows are all about ‘hunks and babes’ she adds: ‘The reality producers are laughing all the way to the bank. It’s criminal’.

Never one to hold her tongue, the actress has always weighed in on Hollywood’s sexual misconduct scandals.

Judy says that similar abuses occurred in the Australian industry when she was a young actress 50 years ago.

The former star of The box said she travelled to London from Sydney aged 22 trying to break into the West End theatre scene, and soon had several auditions.

‘I got a tap on the shoulder like “I think we should audition in my bedroom in this hotel room”,’ she told HIT105 radio.

‘I just said no thanks, but I have no idea how that would have affected my career up there at the stellar heights these young actresses are in Hollywood.’

Judy, who played Alf’s wife Ailsa for 12 years on the hit soap opera, left Home And Away in 2000.

She has since forged a successful career as a novelist, writing 14 adult fiction books and four children’s books.
