Homeless man fights for life after Doncaster attack

  • The man is believed to be Rob Lynksi, 32, who was sleeping rough in Doncaster
  • A homeless volunteer said he has been on South Yorkshire streets for years
  • He is currently in hospital while police try to find out who is behind the attack

A homeless man is fighting for his life after the skin was ripped off his head in a high-street battering with a padlock and chain.

The victim, who is believed to be named Rob Lynski, was rushed to hospital after he was found in the middle of Doncaster, South Yorkshire, this morning.

Part of the town centre was cordoned off as police began their investigation.

A local resident who volunteers with the homeless and has helped feed him for years, Phillip Hartley, claimed that even if the 32-year-old pulls through he could be left with brain damage.

He told the Mirror: ‘He was attacked with a padlock on a chain. They have cracked his head open. When they were yanking it back, they took the skin off his head.

‘This is where we want to advocate this message ‘no more deaths on our streets’ because its chaos out there and it is no place for someone who is mentally ill and down on their luck.

‘Yesterday, he was fighting to get out (of his situation) and now he is fighting for his life.’

‘Officers responded after the incident was reported at 6am this morning.

‘The man was taken to hospital and is described as in a stable condition.

‘Anyone with information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident 125 of December 5.’
