Homeopathic Welsh doctor cleared of sexual assault

Brian Williams (pictured) is on trial at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court

A homeopathic doctor sobbed in the dock as a jury cleared him of sex offences against two women patients.

Brian Williams, 69, from Powys in Wales, always denied sexually touching the women as he gave massages in his surgery where he worked as a hands-on healer.

The week-long trial heard Williams has helped up to 50 childless couples have babies due to his ‘unique’ methods.

The jury was shown an album of photographs of delighted parents and their newborn babies.

Qualified alternative therapist Williams told police he was ‘shocked’ by the accusations and had no sexual thoughts while massaging the women, both stripped to the waist.

In a police interview he said: ‘I have never had anything like this before. This is a job. A body is a body, we all have one.

‘There was no sexual element to this at all.’

Williams told the jury that he works in a ‘unique way’ and ovary massage had led to many pregnancies.

He said: ‘Normally I do this over their clothes. It’s a more of a demonstration so they can do it themselves a couple of times a week in the shower.

‘Over the years a number of babies have been born and I have put together a photograph album.’

Williams’ two accusers claimed he touched their breasts and pubic areas during massages to correct a hormone imbalance.

Former dairy farmer Williams took up homeopathy after being successfully treated by a practitioner when he caught brucellosis from his dairy herd.

The jury heard he treated 2,000 patients a year, many from farming families, at his surgeries in Brecon and Glasbury-on-Wye where he lives.

The jury found him not guilty of three charges of sexual assault and the judge directed them to find him not guilty of a fourth similar charge.

Father-of-three Williams broke down in the dock when the verdicts were delivered and was hugged by relatives as he left court.

The retired farmer denied becoming aroused while treating the women at his home in Glasbury-on-Wye, Powys.

The two alleged victims claim Williams pressed up against them while they were stripped to the waist on his leather couch.

But qualified reiki practitioner Williams said it could have been the wallet in his trouser pocket.
