Horrified mother finds a snake strangling a RAT inside her toilet

Urine trouble! Terrified mother finds a snake strangling a RAT inside her toilet as another rodent lays dead nearby

  • A mother has discovered two rats and a python in her toilet bowl in Queensland
  • One rat was in the process of being strangled by the snake when they were found
  • The family are terrified after the reptile disappeared before it could be captured

A mother has been left horrified after she found a snake strangling a rat inside her toilet – and the reptile is still on the run.

Pastry chef Jana Engler, 35, from Whitfield in Far North Queensland, stumbled across the ghastly sight as she walked into her bathroom on Saturday morning.

A small python hanging from the bowl’s inner rim was in the process of choking one rat while another floated dead nearby.

At the time of the discovery, the mother-of-one was on her way to a market stall for her business, Jana’s Bakehouse, so she barricaded the cracks below the door so it wouldn’t escape.

But when she arrived home and called in a snake catcher, the reptile was no where to be found.

‘The snake catcher was trying to heat the toilet rim with a hair-dryer to see if it was still in there, but it wasn’t,’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

The bakery owner said the catcher’s theory was the snake had returned back down the pipe.

He believes the snake may have made its way into the bathroom as it chased rats through connecting pipes which run beneath the house.

‘It’s still out out there… And it’s the only toilet in the house,’ Ms Engler said.

‘I’m a bit worried about it coming up.

She said the shocking scene fascinated her six-year-old son TJ, who got out of bed much faster than most mornings.

‘He got out of bed really quickly after I told him to come and have a look!’ she added.

Ms Engler said the snake could be the same one she saw in her yard last week and the catcher said it was possible the baby python could have been hiding in the toilet for some time.

This is second time this month a Whitfield resident has discovered a snake in their lavatory.

On October 4 a woman found two water pythons in separate toilets in her unit.
