With Ms Langbroek’s three children, eight, 11 and 14, inside, Mr Defa allegedly shouted ‘this is my bloody home, this is my f***ing home!’ The Herald Sun reported.

The court heard Mr Defa followed Ms Langbroek’s babysitter Annabelle to her car and ran at her as she left the home.

After Annabelle tried and failed to lock herself in the car, Mr Defa then allegedly followed her as she fled back towards the home.

‘Don’t you dare f***ing go back into that house,’ he allegedly shouted at her.

Me Defa was then spotted across the road by Ms Langbroek’s husband Peter Lewis, who had come out to investigate.

When Mr Defa allegedly ran back towards the home he allegedly pushed Ms Langbroek into the gate, the impact leaving her right arm severely bruised.

The homeowners managed to run back to the front door of their house and lock it, bracing it shut until Mr Defa allegedly woke up a neighbour by banging on their door.

Mr Defa was then arrested by police and taken to St Kilda Police Station.

In the aftermath of the attack Ms Langbroek posted photos of her injuries on social media, calling on the Victorian Government to clean up the area.

‘Martin Foley thanks for your call yesterday,’ she wrote to her local member on Twitter.

‘This is the bruise I sustained trying to keep that “vulnerable” resident from kicking our front door in on Friday night.

‘Children inside. The real vulnerable are the decent citizens of St Kilda. We await your action.’

Mr Defa’s lawyer told the court his client was having a mental health episode and believed he lived at Ms Langbroek’s home.

Chris Hooper said his client suffered from mental health issues, and was a long-term drug user.

‘He claimed he thought he lived there and it’s not implausible he felt that way [due to his history of mental illness],’ Mr Hooper told the court.

Mr Defa, who is expected to plead guilty, will return to court on July 24 after a mental health assessment.
