A man has been arrested after he crashed his car into a house before breaking into his own home and chasing his landlord and roommate with a pickaxe.
Security cameras show a Kia sedan being driven at speed down an otherwise quiet suburban street in Lake Forest, California before midday on Monday.
A large crash can be heard, as the suspect, who police are yet to name, careens the vehicle into the front porch of a house.
Pictures of the chaotic scene show the car mounted on a garden wall with its bonnet smashed against the front porch of the property, debris is scattered in the front yard.
The man – who has blood on his face – then runs to the house he was renting a room in on a nearby block and shoulder-barges his way through the front door.
The motive for the man’s wild attack is still unclear.

Once inside the property the man chased his landlord, Eric Li, into the backyard where he acquired a pickaxe which he then wielded at Mr Li.
‘He’s scared. He needs to enter the house as soon as possible, but he entered the wrong passcode, Li told KTLA.
‘You cannot open the door. He tried to use his body to break in.’
‘He chased me again. So, I crossed the street and asked the [neighbor] for help,’ Li explained.
One of the man’s other roommates, who did not wish to be named, told KTLA that the suspect then chased after a gardener in a neighbor’s yard before returning to the house and attempting to get into their room with the axe.
Video footage shows the man hacking at the roommate’s door, as he is heard screaming inside.
‘He kept hitting it harder and harder. I noticed that he was starting to get tired, so I tried to look for a good point in time where he might want to take a little break from swinging the axe for a second and when he did that, I swung the door open and kind of disarmed him,’ the roommate said.
Deputies soon arrived at the scene, arrested the man and no injuries were recorded.

Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department said they used non-lethal force to subdue and detain the suspect, who they believe was under the influence.
In a statement the Lake Forest Police Department said: ‘On Monday, May 22nd at 11:54 am, Lake Forest deputies were dispatched to the 2200 block of Robins Street regarding a vehicle crash into a house.
‘The driver exited the vehicle, obtained a pickaxe, and threatened two individuals.
‘The driver was arrested and taken into custody.
‘There were no injuries to the two victims or occupants of the house.’
