Horrifying moment homeless robber follows a grandmother, 73, and her seven-year-old granddaughter into their home, throws them into the street and attacks them in ‘attempted kidnapping’ that has shocked France
- Violent attack took place at Place de l’Europe in central Bordeaux yesterday
This is the horrifying moment a homeless robber followed a 73-year-old grandmother and her granddaughter into their home and violently hurled them into the street in an ‘attempted kidnapping’ that has shocked France.
The elderly woman and the seven-year-old were dragged out of their house and sent crashing to the pavement by the attacker who had jammed his foot in the door to sneak in and grab his victims.
He then violently yanked the sobbing child to her feet, before throwing her aside as he grabbed some of the pensioner’s belongings.
The child can then be seen running back to her terrified grandmother, with the family dog appearing at the door which, prosecutors say, may have scared the attacker off.
The incident took place yesterday at around 5.30pm at Place de l’Europe, in the heart of Bordeaux.

After the elderly woman and her entered the home, the man sneaked in and jammed his leg in the door to stop it from closing and then violently hurled them both out on to the street
The suspect, who has not yet been named, was arrested a few hours later by members of the city’s anti-crime brigade.
According to a source familiar with the case at France’s CNEWS, the individual arrested is a homeless Frenchman born in 1993.
He was well known to police with around 15 previous convictions.
According to Bordeaux’s public prosecutor the grandmother said the man was trying to kidnap the girl but was eventually scared away by the barking dog.
A neighbour provided officers with a description of a black Renault Clio the man escaped in and the suspect was arrested at about 6.30pm in an ‘agitated’ state.
He was subdued before being taken to a police station where he revealed he was under ‘guardianship and psychological monitoring’, CNEWs reported.
A blood alcohol test was performed on the suspect and the results are negative.
The grandmother suffered injuries to her head, elbow and foot and will be monitored for four days while the young girl was said to have cuts and bruises.
‘She will be seen again today, as well as the child, so that a forensic doctor can carry out a complete expertise of the two victims and determine the psychological consequences of this act of particular violence, as evidenced by the video broadcast on the social media,’ the prosecutor’s statement said.
The suspect is in police custody and stands accused of intentional violence against a vulnerable and minor person, and attempted kidnapping and kidnapping.
The incident is the latest to spark outrage in France and comes just days after, an attacker, named as Abdelmasih Hanoun, went on a knife rampage in the town of Annecy.

The 31-year-old clinched onto a necklace with a crucifix on it before he launched his ‘abominable’ rampage in a lakeside park, a tourist hotspot in southeastern France.
A total of six people – four young children and two adults – were rushed to hospital after being hurt in the rampage.
The ‘backpack hero’ who chased him away has said his Catholic faith gave him the strength to fight the attacker.
Henri d’Anselme, 24, told journalists he was undertaking a walking tour of France’s cathedrals when he came across a playground in Annecy. He said he saw the man attack children in a stroller as their mother desperately tried to shield them.
Video footage shows him trying to block the assailant with one of his two backpacks, pursuing the man into the playground and throwing one of his bags at the attacker.
Dubbed ‘the backpack hero’ (le héros au sac a dos) by media, the management and philosophy student suggested it was God’s will he was there to intervene.
