A ‘heartless’ and ‘senseless’ act to shoot and kill six alpacas at an Australian farm has been condemned by police.
Five dead animals and one critically injured were found by the owner of the property in Glen Aplin, Queensland on Saturday.
The injured animal was euthanised after examination by the local vet.

The alpacas were allegedly shot with a small calibre firearm between Wednesday and Thursday, according to Queensland police.
Senior Constable Jim Ellis said the animals would have been defenceless and it was hard to comprehend the ‘senseless violence’.
‘Disturbingly this is the second incident of shooting deaths involving alpacas on rural properties with seven killed at Lyra last September,’ he said.

‘These senseless deaths are wrong and heartless and I’m urging anyone who may have noticed anything or anyone suspicious or out of the ordinary in the local area to contact police.’
Police are still investigating the shooting deaths of seven alpacas at a rural property on Curtin Road, Lyra which occurred between September 16 and 18, 2017.
All seven were shot with a small calibre firearm.
